Hi there from ‘down under’. Thanks sooo much Denya for sharing this yummy base recipe. I’m so thrilled to get a reliable recipe for a roulade base. I made this one yesterday and it’s perfect. I’m now going to experiment with many different fillings as it’s that time of year for cool desserts here in Australia. Just on the filling, I’m assuming you add the milk in with the cream?

I just wanted to say what a pleasure it is to read about your baking exploits and it has really enthused me to convince my husband to bake more! He is the baker and I am the eater in our household. The receipes may well save the day for our pudding club reunion on Sunday as we were sadly uninspired! Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Hi Gemma,
Yes, the base is the part of the roulade that is baked. After it’s baked, you just spread the filling, scatter the berries, and roll into a roulade as tight as you can without letting the base crack Good luck (even though you won’t really need it, it’s that easy!), and let me know if you have any further questions.
